The nasty Omicron variant is the reason behind the suspension of Flights until January 31

In the wake of the spread of the Omicron Virus, countries worldwide have decided to put restrictions on international flights once again until January 31.

Earlier, it was assumed that the world would resume normalcy from December 15.

India is one of the major countries that has been taking utmost preventive measures against the virus, considering the influx of international travelers. So, until the situation subsides and there is a steep decline in the number of registered cases of Omicron Virus, India will not permit international traveling to and fro whatsoever.

However, there will not be any restriction on traveling concerning the “air bubble agreements” drawn between countries earlier.

Extending the suspension on international flights till January 31, aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a circular that this restriction should not apply to global all-cargo operations and flights approved explicitly by it. Besides this, it was further stated by the DGCA that international flights might be allowed on selected routes on a case-to-case basis.

With its mysterious nature, the Omicron variant is creating a fresh batch of concerns across the world. In India, travel restrictions have been imposed in many other countries like the US, Australia, and New Zealand.

The International Airport in Delhi has almost 20 dedicated counters for passengers arriving from vulnerable countries. These precautionary measures have been taken after travelers complained of ‘crowding’ in the international airports.

Abiding by the new Omicron preventive measures, International travelers must undergo a PCR test as proof against Covid-19. 5% of travelers arriving from the high-risk countries are also supposed to take the test and follow other necessary precautionary as stipulated by the concerned authorities.
