This is the right time for aspirants who are planning to apply for Canada Immigration as there has been a trend for the highest number of ITA’s (Invitation To Apply) being issued in three consecutive Express entry draws held lastly. Moreover, the last Express Entry draw that took place on November 18th has given a chance for 5,000 candidates to receive an Invitation to Apply, making this the biggest draw in the history of Canada through the Express Entry.

The fact that the November 18 Express Entry draw is the largest in the history of Express Entry, which came into effect almost six years and 167 draws ago, is a testament to the Canadian government plans to admit record numbers of new permanent residents between 2021 and 2023, with record high targets for federal economic immigration programs administered through Express Entry System.

This is an all-program draw that one has to go through if they apply for Canada immigration,  in which the candidate in the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Canada Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) participates.

The cut-off point for the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for the draw held on 18 November 2020 was 472 points which is a record-breaking draw.

To give a general understanding as to what CRS is and how it would affect your chances if you apply for Canada Immigration through the Express Entry system, here is the basic explanation: A CRS score is mainly based on five major factors, namely

  1. Educational Qualification,
  2. Work experience overseas & in Canada,
  3. Age,
  4. Language proficiency in English & French,
  5. Adaptability includes previous study or work history in Canada or having a relative in Canada who is a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residency Holder.

The Comprehensive Ranking System is a part of the Express Entry mechanism, which was established in January 2015 to process permanent residence applications, and 1,200 CRS points used to be the benchmark for federal economic applicants against one another.

The CRS score is structured to project the probability of a candidate being economically competitive in Canada.

To enter the pool, candidates must be eligible under Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class, or Federal Skilled Trades Class. The applicants who have obtained a provincial nomination through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams receive 600 additional CRS points added to their CRS score and receive an ITA at a subsequent draw from the pool.

An applicant can earn up to 260 points for high proficiency in English and French, while you can get 270 points if you have a spouse.

There are other alternative programs as well for aspirants who did apply for Canada Immigration but couldn’t make it to Canada through the Express Entry system. Three-in-four new permanent residents are admitted through these alternative programs.
