Russia Introduces E-Visa for Indian Passport Holders August 1st onwards

Russia has initiated the e-visa facility for Indian Passport Holders from August 1, 2023. This could indeed streamline the visa application process for Indian tourists and facilitate their entry into Russia for various purposes, such as tourism, business trips, guest visits, and participation in events. E-visas generally provide a more convenient and efficient way for travellers to obtain their visas without the need for physical paperwork and visits to the embassy or consulate.

According to an announcement from Russia's Foreign Ministry, nationals from approximately 52 countries will have the opportunity to benefit from the electronic visa system.

Under the guidelines, the e-visa system will ensure that processing a single-entry visa takes no more than four calendar days. Additionally, travellers will find the e-visa to be an affordable option, with a consular fee set at approximately USD 40, making it accessible for those who wish to explore Russia.

According to additional reports, travellers will receive a visa validity of 60 days, providing them with the opportunity to experience the wonders of Russia for a memorable stay lasting up to 16 days.

This also comes at a time when the conflict in Ukraine has had a significant impact on Russian tourists. The Russia-Ukraine war has caused considerable disruption to travel plans for visitors from across the world. A report by Moscow Times states that there has been a steep decline in number of tourists visiting this year as compared to the period before the war.
